Harold the family dog tells the story of the rabbit that was brought home and named Bunnicula. Chester, the family cat, soon decides there is something weird about this rabbit. Pointy fangs point straight to a vampire bunny. Chester becomes scared for the safety of the family, but when Chester tries to tell the Monroes what's going on, he is completely misunderstood. Chester eventually goes so far that Harold has to save the bunny.
